If you have received what looks like an expensive and difficult plant for Christmas and don’t want to kill it . . .
If you have a hard time negotiating books on orchids with conflicting and tricky information. . . .
If you don’t know a Phalaeonopsis from a Dendrobium . . .
These classes are for you! not only that, but the price is right! They’re free!
If I sound overly enthusiastic, I am. last year when I was a complete novice, I went to Gary’s Saturday classes and I never felt stupid despite the incredible wealth of information contained in the people there and especially Gary himself. The classes are pleasant and thorough and whether or not you can even pronounce the names, drop in, pick up a handout, bring in a plant with problems and gain some basic information about these fascinating plants.
Starting tomorrow January 18 at 10am, Rochelle will present the first of seven weekly classes on orchid care. Rochelle teaches all Tuesday classes and Gary Gethen leads Saturday morning classes beginning this Saturday at 10am.
Everyone is welcome to drop in on any of these classes. They are all free but donations are welcome and appreciated. It takes a lot of work to put these together. Classes involve demonstrations, handouts and ongoing Q & A.
The schedule is as follows
Jan 18 & 22 – Orchid Care & facts – fertilizers and pesticides and Phalaenopsis
Jan 25 & 29 – Full Sun Orchids & Dendrobiums
Feb 1 & 5 – Oncidiums & their Alliance
Feb 8 & 12 – Cattelya & their Alliance
Feb 15 & 19 – Vanda & their Alliance
Feb 22 & 26 – Cymbidium, Paphiopedilum & Miltonia
March 8 & 12 – Catasetum, Lycaste, Cyconodes

Thanks Jessica! The class today was GREAT! 21 people joined us today for the first of the free Orchid Classes at the MARC Plant Store! The class lasted 1 hr., 50 minutes – I know – I get to talking on something that I may know a bit about and with questions/answeres, time flew by and we all had fun! I am guessing that next weeks’ class will have even more people joining us – but I do have a plan to accomodate everyone and to enable everyone to hear me too.
Anyone who has an Orchid that is having trouble and you don’t know what to do? Bring it into the class and we will help you out.
Thanks again Jessica!
Sincerely;
Gary Gethen
