More than once Sean has requested that I spread the baking  out over the year but I prefer frenzied exuberance and lavish display. Otherwise what&#8217;s the point?<\/p>\n<p>Nothing exceeds like excess I always say . . .<\/p>\n<p>Anyhow, here&#8217;s the roster of cookies for this year.<\/p>\n<p>These are a new addition for me &#8211; Lime sable sandwiches &#8211; very fine rolled shortbread made with lime extract in the cookie . . These are from the Martha Stewart special issue cookie publication of 2001. This is probably my favorite source.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0953.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-900\" title=\"IMGP0953\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0953-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>lime curd in the middle . . .<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP09541.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-901\" title=\"IMGP0954\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP09541-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>&amp; sprinkled with icing sugar before sandwiching so the color shows through the window.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0960.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-902\" title=\"IMGP0960\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0960-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>These are chocolate crackles also from Martha&#8217;s 2001 Holiday Cookies special issue. The bonus with these is that they look hard but are much more like brownies &#8211; a soft surprise and very chocolatey &#8211; they have bar &amp; powdered chocolate, both.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0949.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-882\" title=\"IMGP0949\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0949-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0950.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>They are rolled in icing sugar before baking and crack just before removing from oven &#8211; very Christmasy!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0950.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-903\" title=\"IMGP0950\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0950-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>This is another favorite &#8211; Catherine Gibson&#8217;s Gingerbread Squares &#8211; from Taunton&#8217;s Christmas cookies &#8211;\u00a0 edition 2004 &#8211; soft, nothing like gingerbread cookies. A real find. At this point I was in full blown Martha mode &#8211; unapologetic, I fancied myself very clever to use my large ruler to make the perfect cut.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0955.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-883\" title=\"IMGP0955\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0955-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Look how perfect!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0956.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-884\" title=\"IMGP0956\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0956-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This year I have finally gotten the famous Raspberry Linzer Cookie down. This version is made with pulverized hazelnuts and a bit of lemon rind in the cookie. Again from Martha Stewart and one of my Christmas staples. Fabu!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0917.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-904\" title=\"IMGP0917\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0917-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>Then cut again and baked<a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0916.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-905\" title=\"IMGP0916\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0916-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>Filled with raspberry jam &#8211; no seeds please!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0957.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-885\" title=\"IMGP0957\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0957-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>Again, dust the tops before sandwiching. These may be the quintessential Christmas cookie.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0962.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-886\" title=\"IMGP0962\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0962-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>Again I used Catherine Gibson&#8217;s gingerbread recipe as above to make these small ginger girls &amp; boys.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP09121.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-893\" title=\"IMGP0912\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP09121-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>Some fruit jumbles. This was from allrecipes.com. I substituted cranberries for half the raisins. They are really soft and delicious not at all bland.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0888.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-906\" title=\"IMGP0888\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0888-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>I bought mint chocolate chips on sale so I made &#8211; what else &#8211; mint chocolate chip cookies. Recipe on back of package.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0892.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-907\" title=\"IMGP0892\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0892-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Safely stashed until time to wrap.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0892.jpg\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0891.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-908\" title=\"IMGP0891\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0891-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the white oval plate are walnut snowballs and next to them cherry macaroons with white chocolate. So it looks like I have nine types in all. So what&#8217;s the big deal aside from being exhausted and gaining 8 pounds !??<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0959.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-888\" title=\"IMGP0959\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0959-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>It was fun photographing them all together.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0963.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-889\" title=\"IMGP0963\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0963-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s my collection of wrapping accoutrements:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP09651.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-912\" title=\"IMGP0965\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP09651-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And here they are in plates I got from the Kitchen Store and Pier 1 Imports &#8211; about to be wrapped in cellophane and tied with a big glitzy ribbon.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0966.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-890\" title=\"IMGP0966\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0966-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>Here&#8217;s another one.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0967.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-891\" title=\"IMGP0967\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/IMGP0967-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>Last year we were not settled or organized enough for me to bake so this year I  really enjoyed making these for\u00a0 businesses in the community with owners  and employees who always go that step beyond and make this place so  special.<\/p>\n<p>I forgot to take pictures of the final product because I was so exhausted by all the baking.
