Earlier this evening Leslie & Dave Bevens of the Cork & Stogie hosted the first Crime Night public reading of the Casa Marina Writers Group. Four of the six members read from recently published works to an appreciative\u00a0 audience in a warm and cozy setting.<\/p>\n

Our erudite hostess, Dahlia Woods, introduced us, opening with quotes from Mae West – herself an early bodacious noirette.<\/p>\n

Great snacks, desserts, complimentary wine tastings, but look what was really on the menu:<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Happy listeners including Ms Yleana, Mike Dennis’ girlfriend, AKA “The Hot Tamale.”<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

OMG could these be the literary ladies of the Big Pine Key writers group? I recognize Susannah, Joan and Linda who came to hear us.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Michael Haskins spoke about industry changes in publishing- finding his lost manuscript and then read from “Revenge.”<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Jonathan was next, with tales you would most certainly never hear from your mama. Jonathan & Dahlia have recently moved to our fair isle and we are thrilled to have them.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I was next – “It was a dark & stormy night . . ”<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Mike made up the fourth, opening with a gripping diatribe on his obsession with “noir.” Then the opening pages of his latest novel.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n
