This may be my favorite Key West festival. It is easy, inclusive, and appeals to the senses.<\/p>\n

“The word goombay relates to the beating of drums and dance that goes along with it, that was brought to America through the Bahamas. Many of Key West’s original Bahama Village residence are of Bahamian decent. So, it is only natural that many of the customs and traditions of that culture where brought to America with them and we continue to celebrate these traditions annually. In the past we have brought groups from the Bahamas that perform junkanoo music that is associated with Goombay such as the Baha Men and the Gully Rooster.”<\/p>\n

I was happy to run into Officer Galbo who was first on the scene when my mother’s purse got stolen.<\/p>\n

Friends came down from Montreal and this was their last evening here – what perfect timing. They had a great time.<\/p>\n
