After the cold and wet season of 2010, there was only a single period in January that was extreme &#8211; fortysomething degrees. Still, we are a stalwart bunch here in the lowest key and were stoic about the whole business.<\/p>\n<p>Scotch bonnet peppers coming into their own.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMGP1859.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2507\" title=\"IMGP1859\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMGP1859-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Purple and black pepper seedlings.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMGP1771.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2509\" title=\"IMGP1771\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMGP1771-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a>My gorgeous Thai peppers ready to be harvested in both green and red incarnations.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMGP1879.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2510\" title=\"IMGP1879\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMGP1879-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>Yay! These flowers should eventually produce Virginia Sweets &#8211;\u00a0 gold &amp; red bicolored brandywine type giant tomatoes. OMG<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMGP1858.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2512\" title=\"IMGP1858\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMGP1858-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>This is a yellow pear tomato plant.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMGP1856.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2515\" title=\"IMGP1856\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMGP1856-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>Here&#8217;s another Virginia Sweet.\u00a0 So far no disease, pests, etc and I have given them nothing but love and fish emulsion!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMGP1930.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2526\" title=\"IMGP1930\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMGP1930-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Finally my Nepthenes (a carnivorous plant) is getting healthy. I got this guy a year ago. An impulse buy, he suffered from my lack of understanding and is now making a comeback. He really doesn&#8217;t ask much &#8211; a little shade, moisture and a bit of water in the actual pitcher so the delicate walls don&#8217;t dry out. I leave the hunting up to him. Fair is fair.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMGP1938.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2534\" title=\"IMGP1938\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMGP1938-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>Four Orchids include:<\/p>\n<p>The Stanhopia Anfracta is a bottom bloomer. Look closely at the lower right hand.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMGP1924.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2520\" title=\"IMGP1924\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMGP1924-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>This picture shows it better. From this bud or raceme he will produce the most gorgeous diaphanous spike of bright yellow flowers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMGP1923.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2519\" title=\"IMGP1923\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMGP1923-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>This Phaleonopsis bloomed no more than 2 months ago. He must like me. &gt;sigh&lt;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMGP1926.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2522\" title=\"IMGP1926\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMGP1926-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>This gorgeous Cattleya has taken over a year to come around. This was another lovely &#8216;learning experience&#8217; &#8211; but always worth it.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMGP19251.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2521\" title=\"IMGP1925\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMGP19251-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>I cannot wait for this Schaumberkia to bloom. I have no idea what color the flowers are.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMGP1928.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2524\" title=\"IMGP1928\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMGP1928-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>Just look at that luscious flower spike. There are five(!!!) spikes on this plant. Here&#8217;s a close up of the longest one.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMGP1927.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2523\" title=\"IMGP1927\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMGP1927-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a>And two cats in the garden.
