{"id":3911,"date":"2011-11-10T23:50:43","date_gmt":"2011-11-10T23:50:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/argyle.org\/?page_id=3911"},"modified":"2011-11-10T23:50:43","modified_gmt":"2011-11-10T23:50:43","slug":"recipes","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/argyle.org\/?page_id=3911","title":{"rendered":"Recipes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><\/strong><strong>Chocolate Chip Banana Cake<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It drives me crazy to toss away any of the sacred bananas that grow in my yard but they all ripen at the same time!<\/p>\n<p>I started with about 70 bananas and this is what is left:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG_1616.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"IMG_1616\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG_1616-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If I am lucky enough not to have them stolen, this is a favorite cake. It has everything &#8211; it&#8217;s easy to make looks complicated,impressive and tastes wonderful. The trick to this is the long cooking time, covered with foil for the first 30 minutes so it doesn&#8217;t dry out.<\/p>\n<p>First assemble all ingredients and move your laptop to the kitchen counter. If you need motivation to start, listen to this ode to bananas. Timeless!<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/l-QkMaCS7CU\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Now get to it!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ingredients:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>4 oz butter, softened<\/li>\n<li>1 cup sugar<\/li>\n<li>2 cups flour<\/li>\n<li>2 large eggs<\/li>\n<li>1-1\/2 cups mashed ripe bananas<\/li>\n<li>2 teaspoons vanilla extract<\/li>\n<li>1-1\/2 tsp baking powder<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp baking soda<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp salt<\/li>\n<li>1 cup chocolate chips<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Mash bananas; cream sugar &amp; butter until fluffy; add eggs, vanilla &amp; mashed bananas.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG_1614.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"IMG_1614\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG_1614-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Combine dry ingredients; add to the wet until just moistened then fold in chocolate chips.<\/p>\n<p>Pour batter into greased &amp; floured bundt pan. Or loaf or whatever you have.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG_1619.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"IMG_1619\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/IMG_1619-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cover loosely with aluminum foil and bake at 325 for 30 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Remove foil and continue baking for an additional 30-40 minutes or until wooden pick comes out clean.<\/p>\n<p>Cool for ten minutes if possible. It&#8217;s still one of my favorites. No fancy ingredients, equipment, time and no talent whatsoever! This is so good that even family members who dislike me are driven to sneak seconds when no one is looking!<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s why: It&#8217;s lemon, tastes fantastic and looks complicated. It requires no dough rolling, no cooking the filling on the stove top. You simply pat the crust in a pan, bake it, then mix the filling in a bowl, pour it over the crust, bake for 15 minutes and voila! I have been making this for years and it always gets raves.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Fresh Lemon Bars<\/p>\n<p>1-1\/2 cups plus 3 tablespoons flour<\/p>\n<p>1\/2\u00a0 cup plus 1 tablespoon icing sugar<\/p>\n<p>3\/4\u00a0 cup (1-1\/2 sticks) cold unsalted butter cut into small pieces<\/p>\n<p>2 large lemons<\/p>\n<p>3 large eggs<\/p>\n<p>1 cup granulated sugar<\/p>\n<p>1\/2 teaspoon baking powder<\/p>\n<p>1\/2 teaspoon salt<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">Instructions<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Preheat oven to 350F.\u00a0 Line 13\u201d by 9\u201d metal baking pan with foil; lightly grease foil.<\/p>\n<p>2. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In medium bowl, combine 1-1\/2 cups flour and 1\/2 cup confectioners\u2019 sugar.\u00a0 With pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.<\/p>\n<p>3. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sprinkle crumb mixture evenly in pan. with floured hands, firmly pat crumbs into bottom of pan to form a crust.\u00a0 Bake crust 15 to 17 minutes until lightly browned.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/IMG_0478.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-4017\" title=\"IMG_0478\" src=\"https:\/\/argyle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/IMG_0478-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>4. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Meanwhile, grate peel from lemons to equal one teaspoon and squeeze lemon to equal 1\/3 cup juice. In large bowl, with mixer at high speed, beat eggs until thick and lemon-colored; about three minutes. It&#8217;s a traditional, beloved French-Canadian recette &#8211; oops I mean recipe. First buy a large, cheap slab of meat . . . .<\/p>\n<p>1x roti de palette\u00a0 &#8211; Chuck roast, blade roast, whatever. About 4-5 lbs<\/p>\n<p>1 pouch Knorr onion soup<\/p>\n<p>olive oil<\/p>\n<p>potatoes &amp; carrots<\/p>\n<p>1. Spread a little olive oil over the roti<\/p>\n<p>2\u00a0 Spread the soup mixture evenly over the roti<\/p>\n<p>3. Peel veggies (5-6 potatoes and lots of carrots) and place them at the bottom of the foil.<\/p>\n<p>4.
